We moved to Solver as an add on to our transition from and older accounting software to Microsoft Business Central. We were initially drawn to Solver through our need for more robust financial reporting that we weren't getting elsewhere. After spending the last 6 months in Solver, and attending their annual Ascend conference, I have found other areas of business we can utilize the platform in, such as sales dashboards, KPI metrics, project tracking, and much more.
There is a significant learning curve with the solver system, but luckily they have a healthy knowledgebase full of videos and articles on how to most effectively use the system.
Solver is allowing us to provide more complicated multi-location and multi-entity financial reporting, with consolidation capabilities.
Solver has significantly improved our finance operations. Its Excel-based platform makes report building incredibly intuitive, especially for users already familiar with Excel. Administration is straight forward - maintaining metadata, security, and business rules is easy and doesn’t require much effort. The software is also highly reliable with minimal downtime, which helps keep productivity high.
Honestly, there's very little to dislike. Occasionally, getting familiar with new features takes a bit of time, but Solver’s responsive support team quickly helps resolve any confusion.
Solver has helped us streamline financial reporting, simplify administrative tasks, and ensure data consistency across departments. It saves us time and reduces errors, ultimately boosting our overall efficiency. A tremendous improvement over our previous process prior to Solver.
I really love the new additions of connectors for Solver that allows us to connect to our lakehouse in fabric.
I would like the consumption of data to be faster for integrations.
We use Solver to consolidate reports and provide commission reports to our users.
- The incremental syncs with our accounting systems. Refreshing data in Solver completes in minutes
- Building and formatting reports in Excel. This expands the number of people that we're comfortable with allowing to build reports.
- Time to learn the product & be able to build reports. With Excel being such a big component of building reports, we can train users to be able to build reports very quickly.
- Utilizing trees and security to produce single reports, but generate that report however we'd like (ex.) Building a single Balance Sheet & then grant someone access to only ABC Location from the chart of accounts & when they generate/receive that report, they only see what they have access to).
- Ceiling of what we can do w/ the product. We have yet to hit a scenario where we can't build a financial report w/ Solver.
- Resources. The in-house Solver team is great & there are also great 3rd party teams that know Solver very well to assist w/ support, implementation & best practices.
- ERP Agnostic. We've integrated Solver w/ Dynamics GP & Dynamics BC. We expect to swap Dynamics GP at some point in the future and have very little re-work/effort when dealing with Solver reports.
- Product suggestion boards & frequent Solver updates. We're able to submit ideas, track those & see them come to fruition when being released as apart of Solver updates.
- Solver is very straight-forward for cookie cutter reporting needs. For larger organizations where consistency, standardization & maintenance are a huge focus... It can be difficult to setup Solver in what may be the "best" way possible. This is likely a challenge for any large organization w/ any reporting solution so my only thought would be to receive more up-front trainings, demos, "here's what you can do and think about" before implementations begin for large customers.
We've replaced multiple financial reporting solutions with one, Solver. This reduces our time to close out month-end financials, reduces overhead administration & helps us keep a standardized process between business units and corporate.

What do you like best about Solver?
As a report creator for our organization, I have been able to use my Excel skills paired with Solver's robust functionality to create dream come true reports with ease. For other users looking for on demand data pulling, Solver's Ad Hoc Reporting allows for folks to slice and dice the data to get what they need. During our annual budgeting process, Solver's writeback templates and assignments has made creating, reviewing, editing, and finalizing our budget a seamless process. Staff at Solver have a wealth of knowledge and are easily accessible to help provide service when needed. The connection with our ERP is automated and seamless.

"Database backed Excel functions"
What do you like best about Solver?
Simplicity. If you use Excel you'll be ok
What do you dislike about Solver?
Some limitations in functionality but very few and largely from inefficiencies on the data side of our ERP. Has caused some good rework of our account and dimension structures to get the reporting right.

"Reporting made easier"
What do you like best about Solver?
I love that this syncs to our accounting software daily and we are able to pull and create reports for all our communities in one report/file that would otherwise take us several hours to create. I also appreciate that once we have taken time to create a report, we can pull that for every month, community, etc. that we need! We are in Solver daily to pull the items that we need. This is also a huge component for our budget. The ease of use for budgeting is terrific!
What do you dislike about Solver?
The linking of spreadsheets can be difficut sometimes due to the nature of how solver works. We are usually able to figure it out.

Additionally, Solver’s integration with various data sources streamlines the process, making it easier to consolidate information and gain insights quickly.Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Solver?
One of the least helpful aspects of Solver is its occasional complexity in setup and configuration. While it offers powerful features, getting everything optimized and customized to fit specific business needs can sometimes be time-consuming, especially for users without technical expertise. Additionally, some of the advanced features require a steeper learning curve to fully utilize.
The main downsides of using Solver include the initial implementation effort and the occasional difficulty in troubleshooting issues. Integrations with other systems, while valuable, can sometimes lead to compatibility challenges or slowdowns. Additionally, depending on the version or package, certain advanced features might come with higher costs, which could limit accessibility for smaller teams or organizations with tighter budgets.Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Game-Changer for my Work Efficiency"
What do you like best about Solver?
I love the data warehouse functionality coupled with the ease of use of the Excel interface. I was already proficient in Excel so I didn't need to learn a whole new program to build reports with the data we have in Solver.
What do you dislike about Solver?
The initial setup was rocky for us becuase the Solver pros didn't understand our data and how we use it, and we didn't initially understand the ins-and-outs of how Solver is set up. Now that we understand the program we are making changes to set it up the best way for us but it is more difficult to make those changes after the fact.
What problems is Solver solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solver allows us to respond to reporting requests much more quickly and take a ton of manual effort off of our team. It allows us to join disparate data sources together to create a full-picture report for decision-makers in far less time and effort than it used to, and with more accuracy.
